NDIS
With Exercise Physiology
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Australia provides various pathways for participants to manage their funding and services. In Queensland, the three primary pathways are:
Self-managed
Participants control their NDIS funds, choosing any service provider, including exercise physiologists. This pathway offers flexibility in tailoring services to personal needs.
Plan-managed
A plan manager oversees budgeting and payments while participants can select registered and unregistered providers. This option balances support and flexibility for accessing exercise physiology services.
NDIA-managed
The NDIA directly manages funding and payments, limiting participants to registered providers. This pathway simplifies administration but offers less choice in service delivery.
Regardless of the management pathway chosen, exercise physiology plays a crucial role in supporting NDIS participants. Exercise physiologists work with individuals to develop tailored exercise programs aimed at improving physical health, managing disabilities, & enhancing overall well-being.
-
Goal-Oriented Programs: Exercise physiologists create customised plans aligned with participants’ goals, whether that’s improving mobility, managing pain, increasing quality of life or enhancing strength and fitness.
-
Collaboration with Other Health Providers: They often collaborate with other health professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care.
-
Outcome Measurement: They use world-class assessment technology to assess and track progress, making adjustments to programs as needed.
